Transport properties of Sr14-xCaxCu24O41 with doped two-leg Cu-O ladders

We have performed electrical resistivity and thermopower measurements on the single crystals of Sr14-xCaxCu24O41. From these measurements, we confirmed that two-leg antiferromagnetic spin-ladders in this material are progressively doped with hole carriers upon Ca substitution. In Sr2Ca12Cu24O41, the resistivity along ladders shows T-linear temperature dependence above 80 K, and the resistivity perpendicular to ladders shows insulating behavior below 300 K. This anomalous anisotropy in resistivity is indicative of one-dimensional electronic state on this system.
