Categorization of Saudi Arabia's construction delay factors using factor analysis technique

摘要
This paper presents categorization of 37 delay factors of Saudi Arabia construction industry. The factors were identified from literature review and verified by construction experts through questionnaire survey involved 100 respondents using 5-points Likert's scale. Collected data from the survey were used to categories the factors into groups using factor analysis function in SPSS software. Nine principal components were generated based on factors loading and these components are meant as groups for the factors. Generated results were evaluated to ensure that factors are assigned to an appropriate group. Evaluation involved relocation of factors to ensure that the factors are logically placed in their respective group. The evaluation resulted in 7 groups only where the groups were given names related to the nature of factors in them. Results from categorization can be used for advance analysis such as structural equation modelling which required groups as latent variables.
