摘要
A thermally treated coal tar pitch with 40 % mesophase content was subjected to a hot filtration process in order to separate the isotropic phase from the mesophase. The isotropic phase thus obtained was extracted with different solvents to increase its softening point and then spun into carbon fibres of several diameters ranging from 15 to 40 microns. The fibres were stabilised, carbonised and characterised by SEM. The mechanical behaviour of the fibres was determined.
