Recycling of thermoset composites

The origin of the project was to provide Nordic industry with useful methods for recycling and recovery of thermoset composites. A State-of-the-art study prior to project start in 1993 showed the lack of economical and technically feasible methods for recycling of composites. In addition to development of methods for mechanical recycling, studies on the possibilities of energy recovery and Life-Cycle Assessments (LCA) for composite products have been performed in the project. The project has demonstrated feasible products manufactured of recycled materials and reached both industry and public with information on the progress in the field of recycling and recovery of composites generated by the project participants.
