摘要
Neural network applications have lately become a common feature with varying degrees of success and usability. Image processing has also gained an important part in engineering applications and machine automation. The combination of both image processing and neural networks can provide sufficient and robust solutions to problems where automation is required. This paper presents a real-life application using both neural networks and image processing, namely; an Intelligent Banknote Identification System (IBIS). The work presented within this paper focuses on recognizing the main currencies used in Cyprus; namely the Cyprus pound and the Turkish Lira banknotes.
