Commercialisation of transgenic crops: Risk, benefit and trade considerations

A workshop was held to debate the progress and pitfalls in the commercialisation of transgenic crops. Papers were presented on a wide range of issues, including: risk analysis, market acceptance, regulation in Australia and New Zealand, weediness, pest-resistant and herbicide-resistant transgenic crops, legal liabilities and public concerns. Many critical issues were identified in these papers and by groups of experts in subsequent discussion sessions. Most of these points are summarised in the report.
