摘要
The surface reactivity of metal oxides has been studied by continuous wave electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy and is discussed by means of selected examples concerning magnesium oxide. In particular, the influence of external physical or chemical treatments experienced by the solid on its surface structure and reactivity is illustrated. Examples are given of the effects of progressive dehydration of the solid, doping with transition metal ions and, particularly, addition of alkali metal vapours.
