Ventilation and Air-conditioning Technology and Comfort

Among the key technologies that affect our indoors life is HVAC engineering, which defines comfort in terms of thermal comfort and air quality, assuming that comfort may only be provided within a narrow range of thermal conditions. Indoors thermal conditions, however, also bring up the question of energy consumption. As a consequence, the necessity of reducing building's energy demand must always be balanced with human comfort needs. In the case of heating and ventilation, a detailed understanding of human thermal sensation and comfort is required.
