Hydroxyapatite powders have been synthesized via Ca(OH)(2)-H3PO4 system. The influences of the particle size of raw material, pH value, the titration rate of phosphoric acid, reaction concentration, reaction time, reaction temperature and calcination temperature on the properties of powders were studied. The composition and morphology of as-synthesized powders were characterized using X ray diffraction (XRD)and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), rspectively. The particle size distribution of powders was calculated by nano measurer software. The fine and uniformly dispersed hydroxyapatite powders can be synthesized under the conditions as follows: the Ca(OH)(2) particles with medium size of 75 similar to 100 mu m, reaction concentration of 0.15 mol/L, titration rate of 8 mL/s, pH value>7.5, 0 degrees C for 6 h, and calcination at 750 degrees C.
