Epithelioid angiosarcoma of the maxillary sinus

Angiosarcoma primarily occurring in the head and neck region is well recognized; however, a majority of these cases arise from the superficial soft tissue or from the cutaneous layer. Those arising in the paranasal sinuses are exceedingly rare. We present a case of an epithelioid angiosarcoma exceptionally situated deep within the right maxillary sinus of a 44-year-old white male who presented with unilateral epistaxis. Angiosarcoma should be considered as a differential diagnosis for malignant neoplasm of uncertain histology occurring in this unusual site.
