Asymptotic analysis and finite element calculation of a rubber cone contacting with a rigid socket

摘要
The contact of a rubber cone with a rigid socket is analyzed by asymptotic method. The problem is treated as an axially symmetric case, and the contact surface is smooth. The stress and strain field near the apex of the rubber cone is shown to be singular, and the angular distributions of stress and strain are obtained. The analytical result is verified by numerical calculation of finite element method. (C) 2004 Elsevier SAS. All rights reserved.
