摘要：

The binomial Rheedia spruceana Engl. has been considered a synonym of Garcinia gardneriana (Planch. & Triana) Zappi. When analyzing the type collections of both names, we detected the need to restored R. spruceana with a new combination in Garcinia. This new combination is herein proposed. We also clarify the inadvertent lectotype selection for R. spruceana, previous interpretations of the type specimens, and describe the new species Garcinia fluviatilis Mouzinho & L. Marinho.
