摘要：

The U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) has developed a database management and dissemination system to process, store, and disseminate global oceanographic profile data over the Internet. The NODC Oceanographic Profile Database can be accessed using the Oceanographic Profiles on the Internet (OPI) system. The OPI system is being developed to allow visual browsing of the ocean profile data available on-line at the NODC. Users may select oceanographic data based on geographic area time period and parameter. Once the selection is complete, users may produce a station location plot retrieve the data or produce parameter plots for individual data. Future development includes implementing a true Client/server model across the Web utilizing Common Object Request Broker Architecture and Java The new development will make the system more dynamic and allow users to access and visualize data extracted from multiple servers on the Web.
