摘要
In this research, authors have developed a new non-destructive crack inspection system using magnetic properties, which can be used easily and is not harmful for the operator. We have performed a numerical analysis of the magnetic field and conducted experiments using plane specimens and welded joints for checking the validity of the developed system. We obtained the following results: 1. Both through cracks and surface cracks are detectable. 2. Detection can be performed not only for cracks present on the facing surface (near side) but on the back-side (far-side) also. 3. Detection of cracks can be performed even on painted surfaces. 4. Detection of cracks is possible on plane surfaces as well as on welded joints. Detection sensitivity is equivalent or more than that of strain gauge method.
