摘要
This paper deals with the effect of multiple vibration absorbers on chatter in end milling process. Chatter results in a reduced product quality and tool wear. Applying a vibration absorber is one of the effective methods which suppresses chatter by changing the system property and modifying the borderline of stability. However, there are still few works which investigated the effect of the vibration absorbers on chatter in end milling operations experimentally. In this paper, multiple vibration absorbers attached to a tool holder are proposed to suppress chatter in the end milling operations with a flexible tool. The relationships between the suppression effect on chatter and the tuning parameters of multiple vibration absorbers are investigated. It is made clear that the optimal tuning parameters of multiple vibration absorbers against chatter vary with the spindle speed. And furthermore, it is shown that multiple vibration absorbers tuned the natural frequency of each vibration absorber to inequality provides a further improvement in the suppression effect on chatter compared to multiple vibration absorbers tuned that to equality.
