Photodiodes with three layer zirconium, titanium, and aluminum have been used as detectors on the high beta tokamak-extended pulse tokamak for soft x-ray radiation measurement. Signals from the photodiodes show sawteeth instabilities and magnetohydrodynamic oscillations. (C) 1996 American Institute of Physics.
