The results of 30-year work of Neurogenetic Department (Institute of Neurology, Russian Academy of Medical Sciences) are summarized in this article. The main conceptions of pathogenesis of extrapyramidal degenerations elaborated in this department were presented. The possibilities of application of molecular genetic approaches in neurogenetics including in search for more effective pathogenetic methods of inherited diseases treatment were demonstrated.
