Interlayer magnetoresistance in layered organic conductors

A simple Fermi surface topology and high sample quality make the layered organic superconductor beta-(BEDT-TTF)(2)IBr2 an ideal example for illustrating important general features of the interlayer magnetotransport of quasi-two-dimensional metallic systems. We review effects of the magnetic field orientation on the normal state semiclassical interlayer magnetoresistance of this material, analyze them in terms of the highly anisotropic nature of its electronic system and show how these phenomena can be used for the determination of the Fermi surface parameters.
