Stick-slip vibration in a disc brake system

摘要
In this paper, the stick-slip vibration of a three degree-of-freedom model of a disc brake is presented. A new type of stick-slip behaviour is illustrated in a numerical example where the flexibility of the connection of the disc through the wheel and tyre to the road surface are included. It is shown that the natural frequency of the nonlinear stick-slip system can be considerably lower than the natural frequencies of the two underlying linear systems that describe sliding and sticking separately. Computational periodic behaviour is discovered.
