摘要
We use methods based on ontology engineering to individuate the shortcomings of feature-based modelling approaches in product lifecycle data management, and propose an alternative view. Our aim is to contribute to the development of information systems for the integrated management of product lifecycle knowledge. In particular, we are looking for suitable approaches to model the variety of engineering features as used in intensive knowledge-based product development tasks, in particular dealing with manufacturing and engineering design.
