摘要
The article is devoted to the study of approaches of Soviet scholars to the fate of "nomadic civilization". This problem was important for the authorities, due to the fact that the "nomadic" regions occupied an important strategic position in the Soviet Union, but they were not Sovietized and integrated into the national economy. It is concluded that the Soviet scientists proposed a cautious approach to "nomadic civilization", based on a sparing attitude to nature and the refusal to waste public resources on its "alteration", which in most "nomadic" regions had no prospects. The discussion about the fate of the "nomadic" regions was suppressed by the authorities with the beginning of forced modernization of the USSR at the turn of the 1920s and 1930s.
