摘要
We report on selective growth and induced nucleation of the highly efficient electro-optic phenolic polyene OH1 (2-(3-(4-hydroxystyryl)-5,5-dimethylcyclohex-2-enylidene)malononitrile) crystals using metal acetate additives. OH1 crystals grown in the presence of metal acetates exhibit up to 70 times higher thickness-to-length ratio compared to the crystals grown in the absence of metal acetates. The results are attributed to the selective inhibition of the main supramolecular -OH center dot center dot center dot NC-hydrogen bonds in OH1 by highly polar metal acetates, which accelerates the growth along the nonpolar crystallographic direction.
