摘要
The vicinal dioxygenation of aryl alkenes is reported using N-hydroxylamines and air in the presence of potassium persulfate (K2S2O8). The alkene is first oxidized to beta-aminoxy alkyl hydroperoxide, which is insitu reduced to the diol using molybdenum hexacarbonyl [Mo(CO)(6)] and base. Metal-free, aerobic conditions and the substrate scope are the important practical features.
