摘要：

This paper describes a knowledge-based application, namely CoSPES (Construction Site Preparation Expert System), with details of the development process also elaborated. A weighted certainty deduction scheme for certainty affirmation and a heuristics streamlining algorithm for 'rule conglomerating' are also introduced. Initial assessment of the CoSPES system performance running on a PC is satisfactory and the second phase of fine tuning the rule-base is in progress. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Limited.
