摘要
The Indonesian Institute of Sciences (Indonesian: Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia or LIPI) as one of the largest and oldest research institute in Indonesia can not be separated from research activities conducted by the researchers to produce inventions that subsequently filed for patent protection. Patented invention by LIPI derived from the Research Center for Physics, the Research Center for Metrology, Research Center for Electronics and Telecommunication, and Research Center for Electrical Power and Mechatronics, patents can be categorized into the field of ICT. This paper uses three approaches: patent documents database analysis, technology life cycle analysis, and evaluation of patent data to determine opportunity, risk, and competitive ability of ICT patents belonging to LIPI in the market. In a case study to evaluate the competitive ability of patents belonging to LIPI result that five patents certified in the field of ICT which still has the protection period, showing the differences in terms of opportunity, risk, and competitive ability in the market. Three of the five patents indicate high opportunity, low risk, and high abilty competitive in the market. Two other patents show very low opportunity, high risk and very low competitive ability.
