Ultrasonic Irradiated Synthesis of Acrylic Acid-co-Acrylamide as pH and Salt Sensitive Hydrogel

摘要
We have synthesized acrylic hydro gel in the presence of ultrasonic irradiation in a water/glycerol medium. The pH-reversibility was preliminarily investigated with alternating pH between 11 and 3. It was found that hydro gel formation is faster in the presence of ultrasound than in its absence. In addition, SEM, IR and UV spectroscopy showed that the hydro gel synthesized ultrasonically has a more uniform and porous structure. The hydro gel was responsive to the pH and salts. The method proposed in this research can be used in the synthesis of biomedical materials and in the development of drug delivety systems.
