摘要
Egg-borne transmission of Salmonella Enteritidis is a significant public health concern in the United States and worldwide. This review discusses the potential of plant-derived antimicrobials for reducing egg-borne transmission of Salmonella Enteritidis in layer chickens. In addition to documenting the research conducted on plant-derived antimicrobials, a general overview of other pre- and postharvest approaches to control Salmonella Enteritidis in layers and on shell eggs is presented.
