Optical excitation of antiferromagnetic resonance in TmFeO3

摘要
Femtosecond laser pulses are observed to excite antiferromagnetic resonances in TmFeO3 via both thermal and nonthermal mechanisms. These mechanisms dominate in two different temperature ranges. The analysis shows that thermally and nonthermally triggered spin oscillations have different frequencies. The experimental data reveal that femtosecond laser excitation results in frequency changes of the antiferromagnetic resonance within 1 ps, demonstrating the feasibility of ultrafast frequency modulation.
