Activation analysis of special-purity metal tin

摘要
A combined procedure for the activation analysis of metal tin is developed. The contributions from interfering reactions that occur on irradiating the sample in a high-flux nuclear reactor are studied. The specific features of instrumental neutron-activation tin analysis are investigated under high input load (to 40 kHz) of the spectrometric channel. A procedure is developed for the radiochemical neutron activation analysis of tin providing the determination of traces of 15 impurity elements (at a level of 10(-7)%). The procedure includes extraction-chromatographic isolation of the base along with genetically related indium and antimony radionuclides in the system tributyl phosphate-6 M HCl and provides the processing of samples with a relatively high induced radioactivity. To determine nitrogen, carbon, and oxygen gas-forming impurities, rapid radiochemical procedures providing the isolation of radiochemically pure N-13, C-11, and O-15 isotopes after irradiating the sample with microtron braking radiation are developed. The procedures ensure the determination of the above elements with detection Limits of 10(-5)-10(-6)%.
