摘要：

ADHD is a common and chronic disorder that starts in childhood and persists in up to 60 % into adulthood as full or partial syndrome. Sufficiently reliable and valid diagnostic criteria according to DSM-IV or ICD-10 are available for the assessment of ADHD core symptoms. presenting with attention deficits, impulsivity and hyperactivity. The use of diagnostic criteria elaborated for specific symptoms occurring during adulthood can obtain additional information. Across lifespan ADHD is related to a high risk of additional health complications and comorbid mental disorders. Social dysfunction in terms of marital, vocational and other social problems place much burden on the patients and their relatives. Neurobiological research has shown high heritability of ADHD. probably on a polygenetic basis. Neurochemistry, structural and functional imaging emphasizes dysfunctions mainly in catecholaminergic fronto-striatal pathways.
