Triangular-shaped pulse generation based on self-convolution of a rectangular-shaped pulse

摘要
A photonic approach to generate a triangular-shaped pulse utilizing the self-convolution process of a rectangular-shaped pulse is proposed and demonstrated. The configuration is characterized by two sections of dispersive fibers with opposite signs connected by a parametric mixing process, which corresponds to a temporal reduced 4-f system in addition, with a pattern square operation at the Fourier plane. The proposal is analyzed and validated by simulation and experiment, and triangular pulses with different pulse widths are successfully generated. (C) 2014 Optical Society of America
