Interesting appearance of osseous hemangioma of the calcaneus on bone scintigraphy: Correlative imaging with radiography CT and MRI

Hemangioma of bone is a benign lesion with variable appearance on bone scintigraphy, from photopenia to a moderate increased tracer uptake. The common sites of involvement of hemangioma of bone are the vertebrae and the calvarium, locations accounting for at least 70% of cases. Some hemangiomas occur in the long bones, of which the tibia is the most common location. The authors present a rare case of hemangioma of bone located in the calcaneus with scintigraphic, radiographic, CT, and MRI correlation.
