Synthesis, spectral characterization and antifungal studies on lanthanum(III) and praseodymium(III) complexes with Schiff bases derived from 2,6-diacetylpyridine and 4-amino-3-(phenyl/substituted phenyl)-5-mercapto-1,2,4-triazoles

摘要
In the present communication eight new lanthanum(III) and praseodymium(III) complexes of the general formula [LnCl(L)(H2O)) (Lu = La-III and Pr-III; LH2= Schiff bases derived from 2,6-diacetylpyridine and 4-amino-3-(phenyl/2-chlorophenyl/4-chlorophenyl/4-nitrophenyl)-5,mercapto-1,2,4-trizoles were synthesized in the presence of base. The complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, electrical conductance, magnetic susceptibility, electronic absorption, infrared, far-infrared, H-1 NMR spectral studies. The thermal behaviour of the complex under non-isothermal condition was investigated by TGA techniques. The presence of coordinated water molecule in the complex was inferred from TG which indicates the loss of one water molecule at 150-165 degrees C. All these Schiff bases and their complexes have also been screened for their antifungal activities by MIC method.
