摘要
Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) are an emerging field which grant safety and efficiency to transportation networks by utilizing wireless communications. In this paper first we render geometrical definitions for the transportation network elements. Next, we address crucial safety measures of the network through the geometrical basis which we have laid. Due to the high penetration loss of waves at 5.9 Gh.z. frequency band (anticipated for VANET), line-of-sight between vehicles plays an important role in maintaining safety. With our geometrical tools, we study criteria such as the maximum number of non-line-of-sight points and the maximum number of broken links to theoretically analyze the hazards inherent in the geometry of roads. Further, the deployment of roadside equipment to enhance safety is studied.
