Health care providers should be aware of the variety of sexual behaviors other than intercourse used by adolescents to express their sexuality. The prevalence and frequency of such behaviors often vary by gender, age, race and ethnicity, culture, and community. Health care providers should support the role of the parent in the development of healthy sexuality in adolescent daughters.
