Axial coordination between nematic liquid crystal 5CB and Fe(III) porphyrins

摘要
The axial coordination between nematic liquid crystal 5CB and iron(III) porphyrins with different coordination properties was studied by the magnetic-field-induced Freedericksz Transition and UV-Vis spectra. The results indicated that 5CB doped with five-coordinated Fe(TPP)Cl dramatically decreased the critical magnetic field and the Soret band of Fe(TPP)Cl doped in 5CB had red shift to some extent. These are resulted from the axial coordination between 5CB and five-coordinated Fe(TPP)Cl.
