Synthesis of some novel nucleosides of dioxo pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidines

摘要：
3,5,7-Trisubstituted pyrido[pyrimidin-2,4-(1H, 3H)-diones (IV) have been synthesized by the hydrolysis of 2-amino-3-cyano-4,6-disubstituted pyridines (II) with alc. potassium hydroxide to 2-amino-3-carboxamido-4,6-disubstituted pyridines (III) followed by treatment with appropriate arylisocyanate. The nucleosides, 3,5,7-trisubstituted-1-(2,3,5-tri-o-benzoyl-beta-D-ribofuranosyl) pyrido [2,3-d] pyrimidin-2,4-(1H, 3H)-diones (VI) have been synthesized in 60-70% yield by condensation of corresponding trimethyl silylderivatives of IV with 2,3,5-tri-O-benzoyl-beta-D-ribofuranose. All the compounds were characterized by elemental analyses, spectroscopic studies and tested for their antimicrobial activities.
