摘要
A single crystal of a new ternary silicide Gd1.2Fe4Si9.8 has been synthesized by the Czochralski method and characterized by X-ray diffraction, magnetization, specific heat and electrical resistivity measurements. It has an isostructure of hexagonal Er1.2Fe4Si9.8 with the lattice parameters of a = 3.93 Angstrom and c = 15.25 Angstrom. Magnetic susceptibility follows the Curie-Weiss law down to 10 K. Antiferromagnetic exchange interaction is estimated from the magnetization measurements. Two broad peaks were found in the specific heat at 3.7 and 23 K. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
