Every Czech citizen, according to the law, has to provide needy people with first aid. And if it were not legal obligation, it is ethical and human obligation. Guiding to life and health protection in emergency was investigated at pupils at the 1st grade of basic school. There was prepared methodical material to help pedagogues and other interested people with education. Besides, there was realised research via questionnaire among teachers and inquiry among pupils on the topic "First aid". The questionnaires covered 25 pedagogues in Velke Mezirici and surrounding schools, the inquiry covered 25 pupils. Answers were evaluated by means of univariate analysis. Teachers and pupils like first aid lessons but they have to face a lack of appropriate teaching aids and literature, they miss closer practical exercises on acquired knowledge. Pedagogues should more participate in seminars and courses. As a supportive means of first aid teaching, the set of 14 methodological sheets was created. Each of them is introduced by necessary theoretical basis and supplemented with rich documentational material for practical use. It includes 45 key topics and is widely applicable not only at basic schools but also in other institutions. It can be published as a book, displayed on web sites or disseminated with the help of compact discs.
