摘要
Paragangliomas (PGLs) are masses that originate from the neural crest. Carotid bifurcation, jugular foramen, and along vagal nerve course are common sites for PGLs. Meanwhile, the head and neck are unusual places that PGLs arise. This article reported a 54-year-old man with an uncommon PGL from the parotid gland. We also described his signs, symptoms, laboratory data, imaging studies, and pathology. The external carotid was embolized, followed by a successful resection of the right parotid gland's superficial lobe and the tumor mass.As far as our consideration, this is the second case of PGL of the parotid gland in the literature. In addition, we reviewed and compared the information of the previously reported case. As a result, PGLs should be considered as a differential diagnosis for parotid gland masses in highly suspected patients.
