摘要
The purpose of the present study was to investigate the influence of chronic volleyball training on the Motor Conduction Velocity (MCV) of the lower limbs. The trained group consisted of 14 elite volleyball players, the control group consisted of 14 sedentary subjects and both Tibial (TN) and Peroneal (PN) nerves were examined. The obtained results indicated that chronic volleyball training caused a decrease in both of the two nerves which is more obvious on the TN. These results could be explained by the fact that the muscles which are innervated by the TN develop more power because of the specific volleyball training. Another reason could also be the asymptotic damages caused by the chronic training on the lumbar spine which more often affect the routes of the TN. Both of these cases need further investigation.
