摘要
This paper presents the results of an evaluation of the level of accessibility of websites and portals of Brazilian institutions in higher education and proposes a new web accessibility indicator, based on Brazilian and international standards. The analysis revealed that only 1.49% of (X)HTML codes and 13.42% of CSS codes were classified as valid by the tools provided by W3C. ASES and Access Monitor tools showed that none of the evaluated webpages was compliant, while AChecker tool indicated that 10 (4.29%) webpages were compliant and Total Validator approved only one webpage (0.4%). Non-parametric tests did not show significant difference between regions or administrative categories of institutions, but proved significant difference in the results of the tools. The results of the proposed web accessibility indicator were consistent regarding the quantitative average errors, enabling to point out the level of accessibility of the analyzed website and to classify portals and webpages.
