Prediction of the occurrence of swirling liquid jet generated by off-centered nozzle

摘要
The various methods for predicting the boundary of the occurance region of a swirl motion generated by an off-centered nozzle were discussed. It was observed that the swirl motion of a cylindrical bath was occured when the bath was agitated by a liquid jet generated through an off-centered nozzle. It was also observed that the boundary of the occurance region was divided into four sub-boundaries. The results show the sub boundaries as functions of aspect ratio, HL/D (bath depth/vessel diameter) and dimensionless nozzle distance, RE/R (radial nozzle position/vessel radius).
