Melting temperature of a wedge-shaped thin crystal of tin

摘要
The melting temperature of a wedge-shaped single crystal of Sri was measured as a function of the local thickness using an in-situ heating experiment in a transmission electron microscope. The melting temperature decreases with decreasing local thickness of a wedge-shaped single crystal. The behaviour was discussed using a thermodynamic model and compared with that for particles with a free surface.
