摘要
Six children with a rare injury to the proximal fibular physis in a 5-year period were reviewed. This number of patients constituted only 0.09% of all children's fractures and 2.05% of all fibular fractures treated in our department. The group consisted of 4 girls and 2 boys. All patients incurred the fractures as pedestrians injured in traffic accidents by vehicles in motion and, all but one had multiple concomitant injuries. There were three type 2 injuries, one type 3 injury, and two type 4 injuries to the proximal physis of the fibula. All but one were treated with cylinder casts for 4-5 weeks. One boy with a type 4 injury was treated by open reduction and wire internal fixation. All patients healed uneventfully.
