Empirical estimation of the temperature dependence of the heat capacities of solid organic compounds

摘要
An empirical formula for the temperature dependence of the heat capacity of solid organic compounds over the range from room temperature to the melting point is derived. The formula is based on a joint analysis of the known contributions to the heat capacity and some experimental data. The standard and maximum deviations between the regression and the experimental values used to derive it are 0.5 and 1.2%, respectively. The predictive possibility of the proposed formula is tested for compounds not included in the regression analysis and is found to be high.
