Inhibition of mild steel corrosion in acidic media by aqueous extracts from Garcinia kola seed

摘要
The extract from the seeds of Garcinia kola was investigated as a corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in 2M HCl and 1 M H2SO4 solutions using the gasometric technique. The results indicate that the extract inhibited the metal corrosion in the acidic environments and inhibition efficiency increased with concentration. Temperature studies revealed a decrease in efficiency with rise in temperature and corrosion activation energies increased in the presence of the extract. A mechanism of physical adsorption is proposed for the inhibition behaviour.
