Corrosion resistance of the martensitic steel EUROFER 97 was examined in flowing Pb-17Li melt at the temperature of 500 degreesC for 2500 h. Changes of surface morphology as well as of specimen weight were observed. A noticeable loss of metal calculated from the specimen weight decrease was observed after 2500 h of testing. Concentration profiles of steel components near the steel surface were examined by EDX line-scan and point analyses. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
