摘要
the work presented in this paper treats the performance of a system contributing two monopole antennas separated by means of a metamaterial-based surface at 2.4 GHz for Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) applications. After introducing an electromagnetic study covering the performance of a unit cell MSRR, simulations are performed on a cell of two MSRRs in order to assure isolation in both directions. The functioning of two air-spaced monopoles is studied for the comparison with that of AMC-spaced antennas. It is found that for a separation distance of 1.5 mm, the monopole antennas can operate independently due to the perfect isolation ensured by the AMC surface; this is the core demand of a MIMO system. The envelope correlation of the system is also calculated and improved.
