The microstructure of the system Pb(Zr, Ti)O-3-Pb(Mn1/3Nb2/3)O-3 ceramics prepared by the hot isostatic pressing (HIP) method was investigated in terms of chemical bonding, etching behavior, and morphology for the elucidation of its pyroelectric characteristics. As a result, the concept model proposed previously (Sugiyama et al.: J. Ceram. Sec. Jpn., 1996), in which the pyroelectric characteristics were composed of the overall integration of those of the two starting materials and their serial solid solutions, was partly supported.
